This highly solicited workshop is organised by the OWSD-CAM National Chapter to improve understanding of scholarship application requirements and drawing in on empirical knowledge to enhance awareness of the processes involved in writing a successful scholarship application.

Background:
With the increased need of skills in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), many scholarship opportunities are being advertised to date with the hope of filling in the gaps. Many students do not know how to decipher predatory scholarships, and most often than not, fall prey to scammers. In addition, completing a scholarship application is very challenging of which many students get discouraged from the onset as they are not able to address all the questions being asked, reason being that they do not fully understand the processes involved.
Concrete questions to be answered during the workshop:
1) How to find a good scholarship
2) How to determine if a scholarship is not fake.
3) How to obtain required documents.
4) How to find a host supervisor at a foreign university or research institution.
5) If I don't find my field of research at a partner university, what can I do?
6) How to do to find a supervisor at a potential host institution.
7) How to attract her/his attention and obtain an admission letter from him/her
8) How to draw a budget
